Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf) rebuilds its Agent Window and turns diff zones off by default
Devin Desktop 3.11.212 (October 23) makes the Agent Window run the same interface as the Devin web app, with up to 8 sessions side by side. It also changes defaults: agent edits now go straight into files with no diff zones and no format-on-save. 3.11.216 followed on October 24 with fixes.
The new window has the web app's sessions sidebar, Automations, Review, Wiki and command palette. You can drag sessions next to each other (up to 8), group them by workspace and start child sessions. Every session gets a Files view, a Changes tab with per-file diffs (now for local sessions too) and a terminal on the session's machine.
The defaults are what to check. Agent diff zones are off, so edits are applied directly to files. Edits are saved without format-on-save or code actions. Devin no longer opens edited files in the background. Each one can be turned back on in Devin Settings, Editor, User Interface ("Agent diff zones", "Run save actions on agent edits", "Auto-open edited files").
Enter while Devin is working now steers the running turn; Cmd/Ctrl+Enter queues a message for after it. Worktrees are no longer deleted automatically once a repo has more than 19. The 3.11.216 patch fixes Devin Local sessions disappearing for some org roles and the Install Devin CLI step on Windows.
Why it matters for builders
If you used diff zones as your review step before accepting agent edits, that step is gone after this update unless you turn it back on. Formatting that used to run on agent saves won't run either, so expect noisier diffs.
Try this
Update to 3.11.216, then open Devin Settings, Editor, User Interface and decide on three switches: Agent diff zones, Run save actions on agent edits, and Auto-open edited files. If CI checks formatting, turn on save actions so agent edits get formatted again.
