Anthropic renames Max 20x to Ultra and drops the five-hour limit for verified accounts
The $100 plan is now just Max and the $200 plan is Ultra. Ultra has no five-hour limit once the account is verified, 10x Pro usage per week, and $200 a month in API credits. Prices didn't change.
Anthropic announced on X on Friday, October 30, that its Max plans have new names, and the Claude pricing page now shows them. The $100-a-month Max 5x plan is called Max. The $200 Max 20x plan is called Ultra.
On the pricing page, Max gives 5x Pro usage every five hours and every week, plus $100 a month in API credits for the Claude Platform. Ultra has no five-hour limit for verified accounts, 10x Pro usage every week, and $200 a month in API credits. Both include Fable for up to half the weekly limit.
According to The Next Web, most existing subscribers got the change on Friday, and newer Ultra accounts keep a temporary five-hour limit until Anthropic verifies them. Weekly limits stay the same. TNW also points out that the old Max 20x name suggested 20 times Pro usage, while the pricing page now says 10x per week, a change Anthropic's post didn't mention.
Per the pricing FAQ, Claude Code draws from the same pool as chat on every paid plan.
Why it matters for builders
For Claude Code users, the five-hour window was the limit that stopped long sessions mid-afternoon. On Ultra the weekly cap is now the only one, so a long agent run is budgeted against the week.
Try this
On Ultra, open Settings > Usage in Claude and see whether a five-hour window still shows. If it does, your account is probably still waiting on verification; TNW reports Anthropic emails you when the limit is lifted.
